Diketahui korban merupakan seorang mahasiswi di Samarinda bernama Merissa Ayu Ningrum (20).

Korban saat itu tengah salat di Masjif Al Istiqomah, Jalan P Antasari, RT 30, Sungai Kujang, Samarinda, Kalimantan Timur pada Jumat (28/12/2018).

Pelaku diketahui berinisial MJ (45), warga Sangasana, Kutai Kartanegara.

Korban dipukul bagian kepala belakanganya oleh pelaku menggunakan balok saat salat.

Dalam video rekama CCTV berdurasi 3 menit 15 detik itu, korban sempat sempoyongan setelah dipukul kepalanya.

Sementara pelaku langsung melarikan diri. Korban pun langsung mengadukan peristiwa tersebut ke Polsek Ulu.

Sukiman menyatakan bahwa beberapa kali ia dan warga lainnya melihat pria tersebut.

Disebutkan kalau pelaku sempat menginap di masjid tersebut selama tiga hari.

“Saya lihat dia tiga harian terakhir ini, biasanya duduk di dekat tempat wudhu, pakai baju koko dan peci, persis seperti foto dan video di media sosial itu,” jelasnya.

Sementara itu, Ketua Pengurus Masjid Al Istiqomah, Masjid Al Istiqomah, Jalan P Antasari, RT 30, Sei Kunjang. Elansyah juga angkat bicara terkait pemukulan di masjid tersebut.

Elansyah menyebutkan bahwa pria tersebut memang tidur di masjid selama 3 hari terakhir.

Pria tersebut juga sempat menjadi kaum masjid untuk menggantikan kaum masjid (marbot) sebelumnya yang sedang sakit.

“Selama kaum kami sakit, dia yang bersih-bersih, cukup rajin orangnya.

“Tidak pernah saya dengar dia bicara, kalau saya lihat dia, gayanya seperti mau nantang orang kelahi,” ucapnya.

Usai dari toilet, korban kembali bertemu dengan pelaku yang saat itu sedang minum teh. Kemudian pria tersebut bertanya apakah Merissa sendirian.

“Dia nanya, apakah saya sendirian saja, ya saya jawab, sendirian saja dan mau salat,” ucapnya.

Baru rakaat pertama salat yang dilakukannya, tiba-tiba dari belakang, dirinya memperoleh pukulan yang cukup keras dari benda padat, berupa balok.

“Baru rakaat pertama, lalu saya mendapati pukulan dibagian kepala belakang. Pusing kepala saya saat itu, lalu pandangan menghitam, terlebih mata saya tertutup mukena (pakaian salat bagi perempuan),” terangnya.

Merissa lalu berteriak minta tolong, kemudian datang seorang warga menghampirinya.

Namun saat itu pria yang diduga sebagai pelaku pemukulan sudah pergi dari masjid.

Korban kemudian mengecek barang-barang bawaannya dan setelah diperiksa tidak ada barang yang hilang.
